There are entrepreneurs in every industry in the world and then there are entrepreneurs like Jason Hope. Jason Hope is a professional entrepreneur with years of hard work behind him and a half of a dozen projects in a variety of different fields. Surrounding all of Hope’s work, however, is his core focus on technological advancement. It is easy to see why Hope describes himself as a futurist and it is even easier to understand why he has begun to back companies like the SENS Foundation. Hope, like many other technologically inclined individuals, believes that our techno advancements can literally change the way we live and age. Let’s jump into this topic to learn why Hope has just signed off on a $500,000 donation to a biotechnology non-profit in California. For more info connect with Jason on linkedin

The SENS Foundation is pioneered by CEO Mike Kope but the blood of the non-profit runs through the charismatic Dr. Aubrey De Grey. Dr. De Grey came to America from Europe after mastering his field. His goal was to start working in the field of biotechnology with the target of eradicating many of the illnesses and diseases that are closely associated with aging. This field of work is incredibly important as you no doubt know. While the SENS Foundation is a relatively quiet non-profit, it still managed to get the attention of Jason Hope.

Hope, as with all of his other projects and focuses, fell in love with the SENS Foundation after doing quite a lot of research. After becoming fascinated by the anti-aging field of biotechnology, Hope decided that he had to meet Dr. Aubrey De Grey in order to learn more about his work. Hope and Dr. De Grey would end up working well together and it wouldn’t be long before Hope signed off on a $500,000 donation to the non-profit anti-aging facility.

The donation that Jason Hope gave to the SENS Foundation was announced at a Breakthrough Philanthropy event in California that was hosted by Peter Thiel of the Thiel Foundation. Hope came and was honored in person by Dr. De Grey and his donation was announced for the usage of fighting against arteriosclerosis, or the hardening of our arteries as we age. This specific disease is directly linked to numerous deadly effects including diabetes and, if a cure can be found, could represent a massive pendulum swing toward graceful aging and the prevention of many age-related illnesses.

Stream Energy Starts Stream Cares

The Dallas-based company of Stream Energy has created Stream Cares for their philanthropy causes. Not too long ago this direct-selling company launched Stream Cares. The launching of a separate arm of the company is relatively new to see. It offers the company dual advantages. It gives back to the community while it gets the respect and loyalty of potentially new clients and the public. Stream Energy has had a relationship with Habitat for Humanity and the Red Cross for a long time.

There is one particular cause that Stream associates care greatly for, and it is homelessness. The company and its associates go so far as to track how many homeless people there are in Dallas alone. Stream Energy and its associates covered the entrance price and the meals for over 1,000 North Texas homeless children at the annual Splash for Hope, hosted by Hope Supply Company. This allowed Stream employees and management to give them the experience of a lifetime, as well as money and supplies that they need. Hope Supply Company routinely gives diapers, clothing, school supplies, and more to homeless children. Stream has worked directly with Hope now for four years.

Stream Energy’s quick response to aid Texas tornado victims in meant that Stream and their employees worked directly with the Salvation Army. Streams associates raised thousands of dollars for the people that lost their homes and businesses. Stream matched those donations, which doubled the amount of donations brought in by associates. Stream has also worked with Operation Once in a Lifetime. It helped to provide both moral and financial support to Dallas area veterans and their families. Stream Energy donated transportation to the less fortunate military veterans and loved ones, so they could enjoy a special December meal at a highly praised Texas restaurant. Then the next day they co-hosted an American Girl Doll Experience for ten daughters of military members. Stream Energy associates gave essential support as each girl picked a doll and then later ate lunch at American Girl Café. Stream, as a company, paid for all the expenses of the experience.

Dick DeVos: Part Of A Family That’s Given Over $1.2 Billion In Their Lifetime

There may not be a greater group of philanthropists in Michigan than the DeVos family. They are one of Michigan’s wealthiest families and have spent much of their lives running a business, but also starting up foundations and donating to non-profit groups and charities. The most notable member of the DeVos family is Dick DeVos and his wife Betsy. Dick and Betsy have donated a lot of money to conservative groups and family-based organizations. In a recent report by Forbes, it’s estimated that the DeVos’s have given out over $1.2 billion in their lifetimes, and $94 million in the year 2014 alone.

Dick DeVos spent many years of his life working for and running the family business, Amway Corporation. It was co-founded by his father Rich DeVos, and became one of America’s leading direct selling enterprises. Dick started off in the company in 1974, and in 10 years he became a vice president. He began expanding Amway not only to states all across the US, but began opening branches overseas as well. He started aggressively opening business in the foreign markets when he took over as CEO in 1993, and by the time he stepped down in 2002, he had greatly increased profits in the billions. Today, he is the leader of the Windquest Group, a job that allows him more time to focus on his philanthropies.

Dick and Betsy have spent much of the foundation money on local arts, sciences, and education ventures. They’ve given to local museums and art centers, including the art institute branch of the Kennedy Center in Washington. That institute was actually renamed the Dick and Betsy DeVos Institute of Arts. But they’ve also funded and supported many scholarships and voucher programs for school of choice, believing that every young child should have the chance to get the best education they can. They’ve even helped open up an aviation charter school just outside of Grand Rapids.

Dick and Betsy have also been very politically active in their careers, and the family has had close ties to former president Gerald R Ford. Betsy has formerly served as chair of the Michigan Republican Party and Dick at one point jumped into the governor’s race of 2006. He narrowly lost to incumbent Jennifer Granholm, but he continued working behind the scenes to push legislation through in Lansing. Eventually, he helped lawmakers get a right-to-work law passed, a big victory for the economy he claimed.
