The Chainsmokers have become a two-man artist crew that has excited today’s Top 40 pop music listener base, and one of their latest popular hit singles is the song “Closer.” Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart make up this duo and they’ve decided beyond simply giving their music a quality sound, it needs authenticity. Basically, they told Interview Magazine that they worked with their songwriter to make sure all ideas in their songs are things they know from experience or reflect their true feelings on matters. They also said pop singer Halsey who collaborated with them in “Closer” happened to be the perfect person who understands what their music is about.
Alex Pall has always loved music and grew up in the club music scene of New York City. He became most passionate about it while working at an art gallery but working on the side with a gig manager. Taggart, a native of Maine was visiting New York when he and Pall met, and they both realized they had similar creative abilities and interests in the dance and house music genre that they decided to start producing songs ptogether. One if their first songs to hit the market was “Roses,” and the success of this led to the release of “Don’t Let Me Down” and now “Closer.”
What Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart believe is that their music should not simply be put in one box. While their music certainly emerged out of the shadows of places that dubstep and more experimental artists like Skrillex and Deadmau5 have held, they’ve wanted their sound to mesh with more mainstream pop, hip-hop and R&B culture. Pall says he often gauges his fan demographics by going on social media and seeing what his Facebook and Instagram fans are saying or posting videos of, and he remarked that the audience is a lot more diverse than you might expect. The duo has mostly produced singles and small works, but they are working on bigger albums now that they say they want to represent their identity and maintain strong cohesion in the track list.
